When I was in secondary school, I looked forward to uni for several reasons. One of the major reasons was I had decided to take God more seriously then.

I wasn’t a pagan or any thing like that. I had been born into a Christian home but that was just about it. I didn’t know God for myself. I knew a lot about Him though thanks to the Bible stories mommy told me LOL.

I remember taking a stroll one school evening with my close friend then. We were discussing about the lives we looked forward to having.

Omo! When I get to uni, I’ll do this and that . . . Yidi Yada. I’ll also get serious with God“, my friend had said.

I smiled because I couldn’t agree more . . .

  2. How to Walk with God
  3. Conclusion

Can you relate? Did you also put off knowing God till ‘more favourable times?’

In this post, I’ll be sharing practical ways you can walk with God without waiting for more favourable times.

What is Walking with God like?

Walking with God is like being part of a beautiful friendship. You talk to each other a lot, spend time doing things you both love, share your hearts for the most part. You never want it to end because you enjoy being with them.

That’s how it is with God (or should be).

I know you might have been taught that Jesus is a means to an end but really is He?

If you have this warped mindset, please drop it.

Jesus is not a Genie whom you only have conversations with when you need money, healing or peace of mind. He loves to be intimate with you. He wants a relationship with you, not an affair.

How to Walk with God

  • Spend quality time with God. I said quality time because 2 seconds is time too. Don’t be that person who loves on God only on Sundays but goes on to be with the world the rest of the week. Make it a commitment to spend quality time with God daily. I know this can be hard sometimes but it’s not impossible. Set reminders to pray, use Bible study plans, curate playlists of worship songs. Do this everyday and not only on Sundays. (Check Lev. 6:12).

“I call heaven and earth as my witnesses against you right now: I have set life and death, blessing and curse before you. Now choose life—so that you and your descendants will live”

DEUT. 30:19 CEB
  • Follow Him at all cost. With Jesus, it’s all or nothing. You can’t entertain God and Satan in your heart. It doesn’t work that way. You have to pick a side and I advise you to pick God. I know it sounds like this is a one time thing but it’s not . Everyday, we’re faced with temptations and tasty offers from the devil. You intentionally have to choose God daily (Luke 9:23).
  • Be actively involved in a local church. In my last blog post, I pointed out how indispensable the church is. You need the church to grow! If you haven’t read it, here you go.
  • Have friends that fan your fire. Having firelighters that encourage you when the going gets tough is beautiful. Get you a circle that pushes you to know God better. Friends that can pray with, for and over you. Friends that show you God’s love firsthand.

Seek GOD for His P-R-E-S-E-N-C-E not His P-R-E-S-E-N-T-S.”

Conclusion

If you’ve been procrastinating going into a serious relationship with God, you should make that decision now. Maybe you’ve been waiting for a sign. Here’s your sign dear!

Get serious now because you’ve been missing out on a whole lot and God’s waiting for you.

Stop playing church. God doesn’t like indecisiveness. I know that for sure.

“So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust].”

REV. 3:16 AMP

I trust you’ve been inspired. Please share this post with that person on your mind now.

Whom you love, you spend time with. It is as simple as that.

What an amazing thing to actually be in a relationship with God! The best thing that can ever happen to a man, only if he knew.

    “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! ” – Psalm 34:8

In a time like this where there are different choices to make, and it can be quite confusing as to which one to make in order of priority, I believe this one supercedes the others.
Now, is truly the time to be serious with God.
    Thank you for sharing Gigi🤗

A very beautiful write-up!!!. One of those reasons God created man is to serve Him here on earth. So serving God with everything that is in you is your fulfilling purpose too… Serving God should not be an option, it should be a “do-without thing”.
He is our creator, we must reverence Him with the highest honours… Nothing stops Him from being God, it is a privilege to humanity that He created us too to serve Him.

Good write-up. The message is clear. Giving our all to God, is not only about gifts or material things, it all about “You”. It is when you have offered yourself up to God, that other things won’t be difficult to offer, but I must also say, it is not a day thing. It is a “progressive giving”, as we approach the cross.

The price for ” All of God” is ” All of you”.. Not a part of you, or a section of you… It is All of you… It is only yielded men that yield much fruit. John 15 vs 5….
Thanks for inspiring😊… More grace ma🙏

You can also give God your all or nothing by being completely obedient to his instructions, emphasis on “completely”.
