Sylvia was a very good singer. She was also popular. She had a lot of fans of which Lola was no. 1. Lola had heard a lot about her so we could say that she knew her to some extent.
Sylvia had a best friend named Joey. Joey had been her bestie right from childhood. Even when Sylvia’s Dad died, she was by her side. They had literally lived like sisters and knew each other intimately…
Do you know who The Word of GOD is? Yes? Oh that’s great! Do you know Him based on what you’ve heard people say about Him? Or do you know Him based on what you’ve experienced of Him?
“In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.”
John 1:1 AMP
John 1:1 ! This is one popular Scripture we recite often. The kind that if you were woken up from your sleep, you will say it without thinking twice.
The Bible which is the written Word of GOD speaks of the Son who is The Word of GOD. It testifies of Him absolutely. From the beginning down to the end, the Scriptures have always pointed to The Word of GOD.
“You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me.”
John 5:39 AMP
The Scriptures testify of what The Word has done for you, the implication of what He did and what you are to do as a result. This is why you should study the Scriptures diligently. Not merely as a piece of literature that has nicely crafted stories. Study it with the help of the Holy Spirit. When you do this, you will get to know The Word of GOD more intimately and experientially.
You know, there’s a difference between ‘know‘ and know. You don’t see the difference? Let me help you see it. You may know someone as per you’ve heard a lot about them. Just like Lola. You can also know someone as a result of you getting super close and experiencing all there is to them. Just like Joey. This is the kind of “knowing” you are to know The Word of GOD.
So this Christmas, make up your mind to know The Word of GOD more by studying Scriptures.
If you haven’t accepted Christ yet, you can’t know Him the He wants you to. You have to genuinely repent and forsake whatever sin you’ve committed. Confess your sins to GOD. Believe in Jesus’ power to save you from your sins and ask Him to help you forsake them. Just say this prayer :“Father I acknowledge that I am a sinner, that Jesus died for me, that you raised him from the dead. Father please forgive me. I accept Jesus today as my Lord and my Saviour. I choose to walk in The Way. Amen.”
It’s that simple! Now you need to join a Bible believing church. This is to ensure that you are nurtured rightly. Also, you need to get baptized with water as a public show that you’re now with Jesus. You also need to be baptized in the Holy Ghost.
