Sweet peace

That passes understanding

When the whole wide world is crashing down

I fall to my knees

And breathe in Your peace

Bethel Music

Don’t let it bother you” , Emmanuel said. These were His words to His friends. He had to leave them for a while and they were already getting worried. They were worried because for a long time, they had done nothing without Him. They were scared of the troubles they would face. Emmanuel assured them that though they would have troubles and worries on every side, He would be with them. He promised that they would have peace despite the troubles. He even promised them another friend…

You’ve probably heard the word ‘Shalom‘ . Maybe your Pastor says it to you every time He sees you or someone tells you Shalom instead of Goodbye . ‘Shalom‘ means peace. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, ‘peace is a state of tranquility or quiet‘ .

If you ever thought that having peace only happens when you don’t have troubles or issues so to say, you thought wrongly. Allow me introduce you to a different kind of peace. One that you have amidst a raging storm.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:27 NIV

The story above is one of Jesus and His disciples. Emmanuel is also one of Jesus’ names (Matt. 1:23). When the time for Him to leave them was drawing closer, He knew they would get worried. He promised to give them peace in the midst of their troubles though.

Have you got troubles ? Did you lose someone dear to you and it seems like your world is crumbling? You don’t have enough money to pay for your rent before the deadline ? Do you have some issues with school ?

You see, recently, I have been going through some trying times. I have been treated unfairly. I have been pushed to the extent that I could not bear it but of course, it was not my burden to bear (1 Pet. 5:7). My mind was like a battlefield. The devil kept whispering lies but I would not give in. I countered every of his lies with GOD’s truth, thanks to the Holy Spirit. Yes! I broke down once or maybe twice, but I always felt this calmness amidst the storm I was in. GOD’s peace kept me. Faith in GOD to see me through kept me pushing. The Holy Spirit kept reminding me of Abba’s promises.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 MSG

The Holy Spirit is in you to comfort you and fill you with His peace. Speak all your worrisome thoughts to Him. Turn those worries to GOD in prayers and the peace of GOD that passes all human understanding will keep you.

Phil. 4:6

Have you ever been in a raging storm that so disturbed your peace? What kept you going? Or are you in a storm now? How have you been pushing through ? Please let me know in the comment section.

Also, I know you’ve been inspired so inspire others by sharing to that person on your mind right now.

Till I come your way next week Sunday! A joyful Sunday it will be! 😉

Shalom!

    Thanks for this inspiring piece!!

In a country and a world of so many wars, uncertainties, woes and whims…what more can one seek for than the peace that surpasses all understanding…Yes that realm really exist when you walk on the storms rather than sinking…but this possibility is only obtained as we keep our focus on Jesus rather than the boisterous winds…

    God bless you ma!!

Life is always filled with troubles and challenges at every point in time, the solution to one initiates the beginning of a fresh one and the cycle continues.

We need God’s Peace to survive these ugly moments and one of the surest ways to get it is through prayers. Phil. 4:6-7.

Great job as always, more grace!!!

    Beautiful piece GG 💦

Yeah, I’ve got my share of down moments too and funny, how often times I’m seemly at peace. Yes! Of course, “I’ll be certainly concerned because the issues are there, I could see them but I don’t see myself panicking”. This has been my lot over time, that this even calmness just permeates my heart and I’m assured as relieved.

It can only be God I tell you, I simply look up to him, lean on to him and leave it all to him., At the foot of the cross and he takes charge of it.

Instead of magnifying our problems, we should learn to magnify God in our problems. It’s in those trying times, those messy moments where the desire to worship God is at its lowest that we ought to run into his arms., “So open wide and always, that he wraps us into an embrace of his peace”.

    Psalm 122:7 is a scriptural verse I identify with.👌

      Perfectly carved words!
Indeed the issues are there but there’s no panic. Ignoring these issues won’t give you peace. Only Jesus gives true peace. 💯

      Thank you Victor! 😊
