Once upon a time, there was a mother pig who had three little pigs and not enough food to feed them. She gave them the most valuable thing she had though – THE WORD OF GOD. She taught them day and night. We can say that these pigs were born into a Christian home right ? When they were old enough, she sent them into the world to start their lives .The first pig was very lazy. He didn’t want to work at all and he built his house out of straw. The second pig worked a little bit harder but he was somewhat lazy too and he built his house out of sticks. Then, they played together the rest of the day. The third pig worked hard all day and built his house with bricks. It was a sturdy house complete with a fine fireplace and chimney. It looked like it could withstand the strongest winds.
The next day, a wolf passed by the street where the three little pigs lived; and he saw the straw house, and smelled the pig inside. He thought the pig would make a fine meal. He knocked on the door and said: ‘Little pig! Let me in!‘ But the little pig saw the wolf’s big paws through the keyhole, so he answered back: ‘No! Not by the hairs on my chinny chin chin!’ The wolf showed his teeth and said, ‘Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down.’ So he did just as he had said but the first pig escaped and ran away to hide with the second pig. The wolf continued down the street and as he passed by the second house made of sticks; he smelled the pigs inside. He knocked on the door and said: ‘Little pigs! Let me in!’ They saw the wolf’s pointy ears through the keyhole so they answered back: ‘No! Not by the hairs on our chinny chin chin!’ So the wolf said, ‘then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down!’ He did and blew the house down! The two little pigs scrambled away and made it to the brick house and slammed the door before the wolf could catch them. The three little pigs were frightened since they knew the wolf wanted to eat them. The frustrated wolf knocked on the door and said: ‘Little pigs! Let me in!’ But they saw the wolf’s narrow eyes through the keyhole, so they answered back: ‘No! Not by the hairs on our chinny chin chin!’ The wolf said his usual line. He huffed and puffed. He puffed and huffed; but he could not blow the house down. He was so out of breath that he couldn’t huff and puff anymore…
Remember this story from when we were younger? Well, it is going to be the subject of today’s post.

If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.

“But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”

Here’s my rendition for this Scripture,
The third little pig is likened to the smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. The Big Bad Wolf which is Satan huffed and puffed all he wanted but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. It was grounded in the Word. The Word is Christ our Solid Rock. So, in other words, his house was built on Christ the Solid Rock.
The other little pigs are likened to the stupid carpenter. They built with sticks and bricks and were not even committed to it. They built their house in a hurry so as to create time to play. The Big Bad Wolf, Satan huffed and puffed and it collapsed like a house of cards.”
The Big Bad Wolf, Satan huffs and puffs by bringing troubles of life your way. It could be giving you a grade lesser than what you deserve in a course, or not having money to pay your rent or even been faced with a situation forcing you to compromise. When these things happen, most times we forget what the Scripture said to do in such a situation. Other times, we even forget that a Scripture relating to it exists.
In the Scripture above , we are advised as believers not to only study or have head knowledge of Scriptures but to apply them to our lives. In other words, we should be doers of God’s Word.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:22 NIV
MAKE UP YOUR MIND TO LIVE OUT THE WORD OF GOD!
Conclusion
Now that you have read and have been inspired by this post. Now that you have taken the decision to be a doer and not just a hearer. Now we get to the hard part, putting your decision into action. WALK THE TALK!
Sometimes, the desire to be acceptable by others comes my way. The fact that I do not want to suffer ridicule makes me want to compromise other times. Like me, this is one of the greatest reasons for compromise among Christians.
I know it can be hard to live out the Scriptures but with God’s help and by His grace , we can. Ask the Holy Spirit now to help you be a doer of His Word. I bet He will.
