‘Oh! What a stressful day!’, said exhausted Ricky as he entered his room. It was Wednesday and he always had classes from 7a.m. to 6p.m. He removed his shoes and fell on the bed. All he wanted was to sleep for 6 hours but as he lay down, said his nightly prayers quickly and shut his eyes ready to sail off to Wonderland, nasty thoughts started to cross his mind. It was as if like mosquitoes waiting to suck his blood, the thoughts were patiently waiting to launch an attack on his tired mind. Ricky began to wonder how such nasty thoughts could cross his mind. As a result, he could not sleep…
Are you like Ricky? Do nasty thoughts cross your mind every now and then? If you suffer from this, take heart! This post is for you!
Your mind is the leader of all your actions. As a believer, it is necessary that you line up your thoughts with God’s thoughts. Even if it means doing so every second…
Whenever nasty thoughts cross your mind, do these 3 things :
- Pray immediately :yes! You want to pray immediately! Don’t let the thoughts linger for just a second more. This is because if you brood on them, more will come. You will be shocked at how fast they will dissolve into thin air.
Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.
Psalms 94:19 TPT
- Convince yourself that they’re not yours: the devil brings those thoughts your way. He makes you feel like you are filthy and dirty minded so you can wallow in the nasty thoughts.
- Think on these things : sometimes those thoughts come as a result of the things you have been feeding on. What have you been taking in? What have you been reading? What have you been listening to? What have you been watching? Remember that these are channels to your heart. Remember also that you want to guard your heart as much as possible (Prov. 4:23).
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.
Philippians 4:8 MSG

Ricky is still very tired. I believe we solved the mystery already so he can now sleep peacefully , right?
So when next those nasty thoughts come, you know just what to do to get rid of them. I hope you were inspired. Please share with as many people as you want and leave a comment as I always love to hear from you.
