I log into my Instagram account, two really handsome guys pop up on my screen. They are handsome, quite alright but you know what? They are gay! I scroll past uninterested. Then, I turn on my laptop to watch a movie, the main characters are gay too. Almost immediately, a news update pops up. Something about a homosexual marriage…
They are everywhere. Social media, movies and even in real life. It is now the ‘new normal‘ (air quote ). Can I tell you something ? It is not normal!
Let me take you down the story lane, when God created the earth and everything in it, he made Man and Woman – Adam and Eve. Not Madison and Eve or Adam and Steve.
Then Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”
Genesis 2:23 AMP
God did not create a Man for Adam. He knew fully well that a Woman will be a suitable partner for him. Same goes for Eve too.
Things homosexuals say to justify themselves
- I was made that way : no you were not dear! God made Adam to be attracted to Eve. He made Adam to have feelings for Eve. Why then will He make you any different? The world through the media, science and organised groups has convinced you that you were made so. Some nonsense about it being your genetic makeup. Whose report do we believe, who the world says we are or what our Maker says we are?
I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

- God is not mad at what I do since He created me like that : just now, I made it clear that you were definitely not created to have feelings for the same sex. If God did not create you that way, He will be displeased with any “act” that is not consistent with His will. Every product has a manufacturer’s operational design and manual. Now, imagine the manufacturer seeing the state you have put his product in. I know for sure that he will not shake your hands proudly or sign you a check to cash out. That is how it is with God too.
God’s anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people whose evil ways prevent the truth from being known.

- It is my body so I have the right to choose what i do with it : culture tells us we have the autonomy to decide what we do with our bodies. This does not have any hint of truth. When you surrendered your life to the lordship of Christ, the Holy Spirit came to live in you and He, has ownership of it now. If you have not surrendered to or accepted Christ, then we can say you have every right to do what you want with your body. You were made in God’s image and likeness. Why degrade it by using it for the wrong purpose?
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you? Don’t you know that you have the Holy Spirit from God, and you don’t belong to yourselves?

I do not agree with people who judge those who are gay, lesbians, bisexual, transgender, cross dressers and all of that. Trust me, I am totally against it. I do not like what they do neither am I in support of it but that does not permit me to hate them. Here’s a word of advice from Gloria Ochai, anchor of ‘Life talks with Gloria ‘ podcast to people out there who avoid these set of people like the Egyptian plague :
You shouldn’t hate the player. Hate the game instead. See them with love. That’s the only way they’ll hear you out.
In Paul’s days, he had to deal with some form of sexual immorality. Do you think if he went around looking at them with judgy eyes or discriminating, they would have changed? Of course not! It would have only worsened their affections. By correcting in love, he was able to restore them .

How to get out of this homosexuality thing
- Come to God : see Him for who He is. See Him as loving and willing to accept you despite the way you are and irrespective of what you have done. I am not saying you should come to the end of your sexuality to please society. That will just be you trying to live up to a moral standard. Instead, let God change you.
- Surrender to Him : surrender your self, your affections, your sexuality to Him. That is the only way you will break free. Firstly, you should go back your source – GOD. This is the beginning of the healing journey. Then, sustained affirmations or confessions from God’s Word and Therapy will go a long way.
- Talk to someone : now, this is the hard part. People tend to be judgy. Nevertheless, there’s that one person out there who has probably gone through it before and won’t judge you. This will help keep you accountable to someone and guide you from falling back with ease.
Jackie Hill Perry’s inspiring story
Teacher, Poet, artiste and self-proclaimed former lesbian, Jackie Hill Perry grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fibre of her being.
She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?
At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel.
Jackie is now married to her heart throb, Preston and has three beautiful kids, Eden, Autumn and Sage.
Conclusion
Jackie overcame her desire for same-sex relationships by focusing on the love of God.
