Grace is God’s kindness and gentleness to us when He could have backed us into a corner as guilty sinners and destroyed us without violating His holy character!
Tony Evans
GRACE! If I was to ask what you understood by that word, you would probably tell me ‘Unmerited Favour’. Well, in a sense that’s what Grace is but, it’s more than just Unmerited Favour.
‘Charis‘ is Greek for Grace and means ‘undeserved kindness or graciousness.’
Grace is simply a divine gift of God given through our Lord Jesus Christ (Titus 2:11) which operates in humans whereby there’s a boundless supply of God’s goodness.
In a sense, there are two Faces of Grace:
The First Face of Grace is best understood in the midst of sin, suffering, and brokenness. God did for us what we could never have done for ourselves. Man was in a desperate need for reconciliation with his creator and God saw this. Mind you, He had it all planned out from the beginning. The reconciliation was not in any way a backup plan. This Face of Grace is seen in Eph. 2:8. It is the gift from God to us through which we are saved. As a result of this gift, salvation is now available to every man.

The Second Face of Grace is about God’s work in you to help you live above sin. More like strength or empowerment instead of your vain self-effort. By accepting His grace, you recognize the fact that you can’t do well on your own so you rely on God’s power to help you live holy. This Face of Grace can help you break free from an addiction, get over the hurt of your past and so on…
Grace makes one to function without struggling.

The fact that grace is available and covers you is not a license to sin though (Rom. 6:1-2).
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Romans 6:1-2 NIV
Wrapping up, grace is fully expressed in a person – JESUS (The Only Way to God). The grace of God appeared when Jesus came to this earth (John 1:14,16-17).
God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person , bringing salvation for everyone.
Titus 2:11 TPT
Grace is actually thrilling beyond words. I couldn’t possibly exhaust what Grace means but I believe the Holy Spirit will shed more light on it. What do you understand by Grace? Which Face of Grace can you relate with the most? Do you want to buttress any of the faces mentioned above? If yes, please leave a comment. I hope you were inspired. Don’t forget to share with someone too.
