Love Yourself ‘, ‘Self-Love‘. Okay! Let me give you one you’re familiar with – ‘So much love I’ve got for myself ‘…

You’ve seen the last phrase before? I thought so. “Is it a crime to love yourself?” you may ask…

It is of utmost importance that you love yourself. In fact, Jesus said to ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’.

Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Matthew 22:37-39 NIV

He didn’t leave loving yourself out. This might be because you can’t give what you don’t have. If you have love for yourself, you’ll be able to love others. While this is good, many of us have ended up having a Self(ish)-Love instead of Self-Love. Me! Me! Me! Is all there is. There is no one else in your world. You think that as long as you see yourself as enough and focus on only what is best for you, you’re on the right track.

You have to figure out how to love yourself before you can love others. Hating your complexion, shape, hair colour and what have you only paralyzes your ability to love those around you. Smoking, drinking and giving your body out cheaply cripples your ability to love others.

3 simple steps to a healthy Self-Love

Three simple steps to Self-Love: The acronym: H A S

H. A. S acronym
  • Have a relationship with God: Yessssss! The GOD-factor again. (You know He can never be left out). You can only learn to love yourself and as a result others from Love Himself. Remember in Matt. 22:37, the first commandment was to love God with all your heart, soul and mind. Loving yourself and your neighbours is only a resultant effect from loving God.
  • Accept your flaws : You just have to accept your flaws. Believe it or not, everyone has flaws. That person you think is so perfect has only learnt to accept theirs. Let me take you back a little bit to Moses’ time.

Moses raised another objection to God : “Master, please, I don’t talk well. I’ve never been good with words, neither before nor after you spoke to me. I stutter and stammer.”

Exodus 4:10 MSG

But what did God say?

God said, “And who do you think made the human mouth? And who makes some mute, some deaf, some sighted, some blind? Isn’t it I, God ? So, get going. I’ll be right there with you—with your mouth! I’ll be right there to teach you what to say.”

Exodus 4:11‭-‬12 MSG
  • Stop devaluing yourself : Stop using belittling words on yourself. Stop looking down on yourself. You’re way way more than you see yourself to be. SEE YOURSELF THROUGH GOD’S EYES !

Have a relationship with God, Accept your flaws and Stop devaluing yourself. You’ll begin to have a healthy Self-Love with these 3 simple steps. Accept God’s love for you and love yourself appropriately so it doesn’t end up being a Self(ish)-Love.

And accepting our flaws will remove self guilt and self condemnation and also removing pride, we will be able to accommodate and love others but God’s grace

    True words GG 💯💯

Our love for God which should come first overshadows us and in turn we extend this love to others around us.

Self love is important to all and sundry for it builds our self esteem. However,in all things., moderation is adviced. Our self love is not a reason to get selfish instead it should prompt us to become selfless.

More Grace GG…, keep wielding this pen,it’s a great weapon 😇
