Be careful what you let form your opinions

Everyone makes opinions on Social media. Right or wrong. Correct or incorrect. Sane or insane…

You can’t just take these opinions as they come.

Fine! There are trends, vibes, challenges and all of that. I get the fact that you don’t want to be left behind – you know, ‘FOMO’ (Fear Of Missing Out). Nevertheless, not all trends are healthy. Not all opinions should be taken to heart. Some of them challenge your values and standards as a believer. Your standards and values are meant to be determined by what God says not what the world says.

Be careful of what you allow form your opinions. The Bible is the only standard of truth so evaluate all other opinions in the light of its teachings.

A lot of us just support other people’s opinions despite the fact that deep down, we know it’s against our beliefs. Maybe it’s because we don’t want to be tagged ‘holier than thou‘ or ‘old school‘ or ‘churchy’. I was at this point sometime recently. I was referred to as ‘being too churchy‘. I talked to a friend about it and here’s what she told me :

If they call you churchy, tell them you’re proud to be churchy “. Never! I repeat. Never agree with opinions that do not align with the Bible because of the fear of what you will be called.

What are we saying in essence?

It’s no longer news that Social Media has plagued our generation. (If you didn’t know that before, I’m sure you do now)

It’s not too late to break free from the claws of excessive Social media. From the claws of trying to impress people on there. From the claws of living virtual lives. From the claws of accepting unhealthy opinions because of fear of what others will say.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others drown out your own inner voice.

this is very true. I used to be part of the people that accepted or tried to keep an ‘open mind.’ God wouldn’t want me to compromise on my faith and I realised that later. Thankyou for this piece, it helped

We now live in an age where people rely on social media to feel validated about their lives…. People get involved in unnecessary comparisons which which fuels depression and low self esteem….. It’s a perception built on falsehood… The Bible says we’re wonderfully and fearfully made….. Nice post. God bless you.

Clearly, there are two sides to everything on earth. Do not allow yourself to be trapped in the negativity the social media breed.

Trying to be someone we are not for the sake of clout is not a godly decision and should be strongly discouraged.

Thank you very much for this wonderful piece. More grace in Jesus’ name.
