Tempus Fugit! Le temps passe! Time flies! Oh we live in a world bound with time! Has it ever happened to you that after a long day , you weren’t able to accomplish half the tasks planned out? Has it happened to you countless times? Has it ever seemed like 24 hours wasn’t adequate for you to accomplish your tasks ?
Time has been since the beginning of the world. It’s running , tick tock, tick tock – waiting for no man and you can’t just live while time passes away . Eccl. 3:1-8 tells us that there’s a time for everything.
This clearly shows that managing time wisely is of essence and great value. You’re probably wondering : how do I effectively manage my time so I can get things done without having regrets? Can anyone even manage their time in such a way that they get all that needs to be done, done?
The answer is YES ! Yes, if you manage your time very well, you’ll sure be able to do more.
How to manage your time effectively
- Avoid Procrastination : Procrastination is ‘putting off’ something that most times, requires immediate attention. Someone said, “today’s duties put off tomorrow give us a double burden to bear; the best way is to do them in their proper time.” This is very true! Ohh I’ll do that later! Later, you find out that there’s much more on your plate then you delay it till much later and by the time you’re “free”(air quote) , it’s as though the work just seemed to increase. When you deal with procrastination – the Time Jacker, you get more done in no time.
- Have a to-do-list : Once, I complained to a friend of mine about how I couldn’t seem to do all I planned out in my mind to do and she recommended writing out my activities for the day down which has really been of help. When you put down your activities on paper or using your phone or whatever device available to you, it helps keep you on track and you’ll end up being more productive.
- Prioritize : Thing is, we’ll have a thousand and one activities to do but we can’t carry them out all at once. Prioritizing is simply ordering activities in order of urgency or importance. In Luke 10:38-42, we see a very popular story of Jesus’ visit to Mary and Martha’s house. Mary sat, learning at Jesus’ feet while Martha was busy trying to be hospitable. When she complained, Jesus replied, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Martha wasn’t in any way doing something wrong, she only didn’t prioritize her activities well .
Time flies ! You can’t control the time but you can be the Pilot by utilizing your time effectively…
What you do with your time – how well you manage your time is very important. What would you do differently with your time?
